Worcester is a great&nbsp;place for&nbsp;work&nbsp;with many&nbsp;flexible&nbsp;local roles in hospitality,&nbsp;retail&nbsp;and other industries,&nbsp;or&nbsp;you could&nbsp;work&nbsp;for the University itself.&nbsp;You also have access to the wider Worcestershire area and easy access to Birmingham too for&nbsp;other work&nbsp;opportunities.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our Careers service&nbsp;are here to&nbsp;help you with&nbsp;both&nbsp;part-time as well as graduate jobs. Many&nbsp;of our&nbsp;students use the online&nbsp;University&nbsp;jobs portal to find suitable roles&nbsp;as well as the more widely used job websites.&nbsp;Our&nbsp;Careers&nbsp;service&nbsp;also&nbsp;regularly contact&nbsp;the course team&nbsp;with&nbsp;roles&nbsp;that may be of&nbsp;particular interest to Business and Computing students&nbsp;which we signpost to our students.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Below&nbsp;is a selection of&nbsp;work&nbsp;opportunities&nbsp;supported by Worcester Business School&nbsp;that&nbsp;are&nbsp;available to you when studying with us:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.worcester.ac.uk\/about\/academic-schools\/worcester-business-school\/for-organisations\/the-springboard-programme.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Springboard Internships<\/strong><\/a>&nbsp;&#8211; this is a Worcester Business School initiative to help students gain subject specific work experience whilst studying. These are mainly local to Worcester and vary in length and payment, but they are all completed in-year alongside your studies.&nbsp;These are often paid but sometimes voluntary and&nbsp;are&nbsp;for a few hours a week&nbsp;for&nbsp;3-6 months. The good news is that competition for these is less&nbsp;fierce&nbsp;as they&nbsp;are open to Worcester Business School students only!&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.worcester.ac.uk\/about\/academic-schools\/worcester-business-school\/employability-and-placements\/enrich-business-skills.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Start your own business<\/strong><\/a>&nbsp;Many of our undergraduates are keen to start their own business or have existing \u2018side hustles\u2019 that they would like to expand. We run 2 events per year for students who are interested in being an entrepreneur. Support and guidance are available each year and you can even complete a placement year developing your own business too!&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.worcester.ac.uk\/about\/academic-schools\/worcester-business-school\/employability-and-placements\/business-work-placements.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>12-month&nbsp;Placements<\/strong><\/a><strong>&nbsp;&#8211;<\/strong>&nbsp;you could apply to&nbsp;complete a year in industry between&nbsp;your&nbsp;2<sup>nd<\/sup>&nbsp;and 3<sup>rd<\/sup>&nbsp;years to develop employability skills and enhance&nbsp;your&nbsp;CV for the future.&nbsp;These&nbsp;placement roles&nbsp;are mostly&nbsp;paid &#8211;&nbsp;approx.&nbsp;\u00a318,000 per year&nbsp;\u2013 minimum duration of 36 weeks but could be longer. We have a dedicated Placements Officer who can help you in your search&nbsp;and offer support and guidance. You can apply for these roles anywhere in the UK&nbsp;and&nbsp;abroad.&nbsp;Whether you&nbsp;apply for a 3- or 4-year degree &#8211; with or without placement year \u2013&nbsp;you&nbsp;always have the flexibility to&nbsp;decide if a placement is right for you, closer to the time.&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www2.worc.ac.uk\/careers\/job-bulletins.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Summer Internships<\/strong><\/a><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>\u2013 these are becoming&nbsp;extremely popular&nbsp;now and you can&nbsp;also&nbsp;do these between your 2<sup>nd<\/sup>&nbsp;and 3<sup>rd<\/sup>&nbsp;years. The summer break between May and September affords an opportunity to complete internships&nbsp;usually&nbsp;from&nbsp;6 weeks to 3 months.&nbsp;Again,&nbsp;most of these are paid and are&nbsp;a&nbsp;great&nbsp;way to develop your employability skills and enhance&nbsp;your&nbsp;CV for the future.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.worcester.ac.uk\/life\/help-and-support\/services-for-students\/earn-as-you-learn\/student-ambassadors-scheme.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>University Ambassadors<\/strong><\/a><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>&#8211; these are paid roles&nbsp;helping out&nbsp;with functions, events and open days at the University. They are flexible and can fit around your studies. It is great to be able to talk to prospective and current students and develop your communication skills while you earn!&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Contributing\u00a0<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>An important part of our&nbsp;Worcester Business School&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.unprme.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">PRME<\/a>&nbsp;accreditation&nbsp;includes contribution&nbsp;to society and local&nbsp;communities, within and beyond the&nbsp;School. This may be something that you would like to be involved in too.&nbsp;We know that this is an increasing area of importance to young people,&nbsp;so here are some of the activities&nbsp;you could be involved in:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www2.worc.ac.uk\/careers\/worcesteraward.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Worcester Award<\/strong><\/a><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>&#8211; This award allows you to record extra activities you take part in during your time at the university. Taking part encourages you to reflect upon how these activities can help to improve your future employability. The Worcester Award has four levels: Bronze; Silver; Gold and Platinum. You can decide which level of the award you want to aim for.&nbsp; It is great for your CV and for job interviews and allows you to showcase the range of activities and passions you have been involved in during your time at Worcester Business School.&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.worcsu.com\/yourvoice\/reps\/coursereps\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Course Representative<\/strong><\/a>&nbsp;\u2013 each course has a nominated representative to work with teaching staff, course leaders and the wider&nbsp;Business School&nbsp;to ensure the student experience is of&nbsp;excellent&nbsp;quality.&nbsp;You would&nbsp;attend meetings&nbsp;during&nbsp;the year with&nbsp;other course representatives,&nbsp;the&nbsp;Business&nbsp;School&nbsp;and&nbsp;the Students Union&nbsp;to&nbsp;represent&nbsp;the views of students on&nbsp;your&nbsp;course. This is a great role&nbsp;for getting&nbsp;to know others, increase your&nbsp;understanding&nbsp;of&nbsp;university&nbsp;life and&nbsp;enhance&nbsp;your communication and public speaking skills.&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.worcsu.com\/yourvoice\/reps\/schoolreps\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>School Representative<\/strong><\/a><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>&#8211; this is&nbsp;similar to&nbsp;the&nbsp;role of&nbsp;course representative but&nbsp;this time you&nbsp;represent the views and experiences of the&nbsp;whole Business School&nbsp;student&nbsp;community.
