Whilst study is key to your success at&nbsp;university, it is also important to have fun and&nbsp;meet others. Here are some of the excellent opportunities and facilities the University and surrounding city has to offer.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are a range of facilities and events on campus that enable students to enjoy the social side of university. These include the University\u2019s state of the art facilities for sports and leisure such as our University of Worcester Arena and Campus Gyms. There is also the&nbsp;Students\u2019 Union societies and sports clubs&nbsp;where you have lots of&nbsp;opportunities for&nbsp;participating, volunteering&nbsp;and fundraising:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>At University<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Sports&nbsp;<\/strong>&#8211; there are a wide range of students\u2019 union sports clubs here at the University of Worcester. There are&nbsp;a wide variety of&nbsp;sports&nbsp;clubs&nbsp;students can join.&nbsp;Our&nbsp;university&nbsp;teams compete nationally and each year, there is a Varsity contest where sports teams from University of Worcester compete against University of Gloucestershire. If competitive sport isn\u2019t for you there are&nbsp;a number of&nbsp;recreational or social memberships available to you too.&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Societies&nbsp;<\/strong>&#8211; there are a wide range of students\u2019 societies here at the University of Worcester. If the current societies on offer don\u2019t interest you, you can even start your own with support from Worcester\u2019s&nbsp;Students\u2019&nbsp;Union!&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Students\u2019&nbsp;Union&nbsp;&#8211;&nbsp;<\/strong>The University students\u2019 union regularly plans events for students across the university including celebrating the Worcester student achievements in \u2018celebration week\u2019, festive activities, an all-student magazine, volunteering opportunities (put in link &#8211;&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.worcsu.com\/volunteer\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">https:\/\/www.worcsu.com\/volunteer\/<\/a>&nbsp;)&nbsp;and&nbsp;a range of events throughout the year. There is also&nbsp;a&nbsp;food hall,&nbsp;Student\u2019s&nbsp;Union shop&nbsp;and range of cafes across the campuses&nbsp;for you to relax between your classes.&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Local Fun<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Shopping-&nbsp;<\/strong>If Worcester is new to you, you may wonder what the city has to offer. In the centre of the city, there are a range of local sellers and chain brand shops which is a five-minute walk away from the University\u2019s City Campus. Worcester centre boasts a two shopping centres (Reindeer court and&nbsp;CrownGate) as well as cathedral square. Around the City, there are also retails parks such as&nbsp;Blackpole&nbsp;retail park and within a short drive, bus or train away, you can reach places such as Malvern, Droitwich, Cheltenham and Birmingham for a day of shopping!&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Nature and Days out<\/strong>&#8211; Worcester is surrounded by nature and facilities for a fun day out. There are a wide range of fun activities in and around Worcester, including walking trials and days out such as:&nbsp;<ul><li>Malvern Hills&nbsp;<\/li><li>Go Ape! \u2013 The Wyre Forest&nbsp;<\/li><li>West Midland Safari Park&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li><li>Three counties showground (with events on throughout the year!)&nbsp;<\/li><li>The Great Worcester Maize Maze&nbsp;<\/li><li>Hartlebury&nbsp;Common Local nature reserve&nbsp;<\/li><li>Worcester Racecourse&nbsp;<\/li><li>Two cinemas and the Swan Theatre&nbsp;<\/li><li>Heritage and culture places, such as Worcester&nbsp;Catheral, Severn Valley Railway, Croome court and Worcester City Art Gallery and Museum&nbsp;<\/li><li>The annual Victorian Christmas Market and Circus&nbsp;<\/li><li>And many, many more! &#8211; check out the Visit Worcester site for discover more places, things to do and events:&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.visitworcestershire.org\/explore\/\" target=\"_blank\">https:\/\/www.visitworcestershire.org\/explore\/<\/a>&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Food, drink and nightlife &#8211;&nbsp;<\/strong>Worcester boasts a multitude of restaurants, pubs and bars throughout the city centre which are a 5-minute walk from the University\u2019s City Campus. There is also Tramps nightclub which partners with our student\u2019s union and is the official host for welcome week.
