At the University of Worcester and the Business school, we offer&nbsp;a collection of workshops, 1:1 support and guidance which stems beyond core module learning and compliments your studies.&nbsp;We also have a dedicated student support team to help guide you through your journey. Look below at some of the opportunities available to you, to study for success.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Module learning&nbsp;and online learning environment<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Each course is designed using modules which are either&nbsp;one&nbsp;semester or across&nbsp;both&nbsp;semesters.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Some modules&nbsp;are&nbsp;mandatory whilst others, dependent on the course you take, may be \u2018optional\u2019 which means you can pick from a choice of&nbsp;different&nbsp;modules available to your course.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li><li>Each module consists of three hours of attendance-based&nbsp;taught content per week.&nbsp; It is expected that you also carry out&nbsp;approximately 12 hours of&nbsp;independent&nbsp;learning per week.&nbsp;<\/li><li>Each module will provide you with materials&nbsp;via a secure online learning environment platform that can be accessed via multiple devices.&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Assessments<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>There are a range of assessment types that students have on modules as part of their course. These are dependent on the modules you take as part of your course. These may include&nbsp;assessments such as:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Written\u00a0reports\u00a0<\/li><li>Exams\u00a0<\/li><li>Presentations\u00a0<\/li><li>Group\u00a0work\u00a0<\/li><li>Practical\u00a0assessments\u00a0<\/li><li>Portfolios\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>In each module, there are lots of support opportunities and&nbsp;student-tutor&nbsp;feedback&nbsp;points&nbsp;so that you can develop your knowledge and skills for assessments and for employability purposes.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Placement\/year abroad<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>There is the opportunity for students to take a placement year or a student abroad year between their second and final year of studies. For more information regarding this, please visit the \u2018Earning and contributing\u2019 page\u00a0on this site.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/library.worc.ac.uk\/referencing\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Librarian support<\/strong><\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Students in WBS can gain support from the Library&nbsp;Services which&nbsp;are located in&nbsp;the Hive Library and online through our dedicated Library Services page. Here, you can find a large collection of academic&nbsp;readings both in the Hive and Online which are available to University of Worcester students.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The Hive&nbsp;library, which is situated a short walk from Worcester Business&nbsp;School,&nbsp;has&nbsp;dedicated&nbsp;workspaces&nbsp;for students, PCs and quiet spaces, bookable meeting spaces for study groups&nbsp;and access to academic liaison librarians.&nbsp;&nbsp;<br>&nbsp;<\/li><li>The online site has dedicated &#8216;discovery\u2019 workshops which are designed to support students&nbsp;with research and referencing, resource lists for modules and associated key reading, online access to books, journals and Business databases, an online live chat with librarians and much more.&nbsp;&nbsp;<br>&nbsp;<\/li><li>Many modules also incorporate Library support and there is a dedicated academic liaison librarian for Worcester Business School that can help provide guidance and support to students.&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Support for your studies<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>To support your studies, there are a range of services available and a dedicated first point team&nbsp;(see seeking support page- LINK HERE)&nbsp;that can help answer queries and guide you in the right direction.&nbsp;Some of the services specifically focused&nbsp;on&nbsp;academic support are:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Academic writers in residence-&nbsp;<\/strong>Students can book appointment with the University Academic writers in residence for support and guidance on writing for assessments (note: this is not a proof-reading service).&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>The language centre-&nbsp;<\/strong>The language centre offers short bookable appointments to provide guidance around academic writing such as assessment and sentence structure, grammar, etc. (note: This is not a proof-reading service)&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Course Leaders, Module Leaders and&nbsp;Personal Academic Tutors<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Students will have lots of support and guidance throughout their time at university, for example:&nbsp;<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Each course has a course leader who manages the course pathways and can provide&nbsp;student&nbsp;guidance.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li><li>Within each module, there is a Module Leader who is the \u2018first port of call\u2019 for any queries at a modular level and oversees the running of the individual module.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li><li>Each student is assigned a Personal Academic Tutor for the duration of their course. This tutor can help with any queries you may have and helps you to progress throughout your time&nbsp;on the course.&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/studyskills.wp.worc.ac.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Study Skills website<\/strong><\/a><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The University has a dedicated Study Skills website which has lots of&nbsp;useful information, tips and hints to help you study.
