Your time at university will provide opportunities for you to develop and harness your skills and knowledge. It is important to know that there are a variety of supportive networks and guidance throughout your stay that will help you maximise your potential and study for success. At the University of Worcester and the Business school, we offer a collection of workshops, 1:1 support and guidance which stems beyond core module learning and compliments your studies. We also have a dedicated student support team to help guide you through your journey. Look below at some of the opportunities available to you, to study for success.

Module learning and online learning environment

Each course is designed using modules which are either one semester or across both semesters.

  • Some modules are mandatory whilst others, dependent on the course you take, may be ‘optional’ which means you can pick from a choice of different modules available to your course.
  • Each module consists of three hours of attendance-based taught content per week.  It is expected that you also carry out approximately 12 hours of independent learning per week.
  • Each module will provide you with materials via a secure online learning environment platform that can be accessed via multiple devices.

Assessments

There are a range of assessment types that students have on modules as part of their course. These are dependent on the modules you take as part of your course. These may include assessments such as:

  • Written reports
  • Exams
  • Presentations
  • Group work
  • Practical assessments
  • Portfolios

In each module, there are lots of support opportunities and student-tutor feedback points so that you can develop your knowledge and skills for assessments and for employability purposes.

Placement/year abroad

There is the opportunity for students to take a placement year or a student abroad year between their second and final year of studies. For more information regarding this, please visit the ‘Earning and contributing’ page on this site.
