As parents, guardians, or family of those looking to go to university you will no doubt have a lot of things to consider, and you will want to support your family member before and during their studies. Here are a few areas that we think you would like to know about: 

What is Worcester like as a city? 

  • Worcester in an historic city, which is fairly small in size and is known as a friendly place to live, work and study. 
  • Worcester is seen as a safe city, like all cities those living, working and studying in Worcester will exercise care in their day to day living to avoid taking undue risk. There is plenty of support from the University to keep you safe and well.

  • There are many clubs and societies to cover sporting and leisure activities as well as a number of student networks which help join different communities together. 

How can we support our family member who is starting on their student journey? 

  • It would be a great support to your family member should you research their study options and have conversations and discussions with them about what might be a good choice for them. 
  • Once the decision is made and study starts it will again be a huge support for you to keep in touch, perhaps schedule a regular call to find out how life is going. 
  • Encourage your family member to get involved with social activities, there is something for everyone at university and keeping a good level of social contact makes all the difference to a happy and pleasant experience.
